The senior lecturer of the Department of Forensic Examination Activities Ksenia Tagunova participated in the International Scientific and Practical Conference «East-West: Partnership in Forensic Science. Improving Forensic Services as a Factor Ensuring Intellectual Property Protection» which was held at the Law Institute of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in Moscow (the Russian Federation) on April 18, 2019.

Representatives of expert and scientific centers in the field of forensic examination, representatives of private expert institutions, as well as specialized educational institutions participated in the conference.

The conference participants included representatives of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Armenia.

The reports of representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organization, a member of the Presidium of the Court on Intellectual Property Rights of the Russian Federation, a judge of the Land Court of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Director of the Institute of the Legal expertise of the KAZGUU University named after M. Narikbayev and others were heard in the plenary session.

The conference included presentations and an exchange of views on the following topics:

• forensic examination of intellectual property objects as a new direction of forensic expert activity;
• legal, organizational and methodological problems of forensic support of intellectual property protection;
• topical issues of training in the field of intellectual property;
• expert report as an object of authors’ rights.

Tagunova also participated in the poster session of the conference with a poster presentation «Current measures of state regulation of legal relations in the forensic sphere». The activities of the Institute aroused a vivid interest of the conference participants. Among them were: Oliver Shen, a judge of the Land Court of the Federal Republic of Germany, Satenov Kalliolle Kabaevich the Director of the Institute of the Legal expertise of the KAZGUU University named after M. Narikbayev of the Perublic of Kazakhstan, a representative of the Law Institute of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. Professional contacts were exchanged.

The information received at the conference is relevant and useful. As a result of participation in the conference it is planned to implement the received information and methodological materials into the educational process, as well as into the academic disciplines of the department.
