Currently the delegation of the State Committee headed by the Chairman Andrei Shved is in the Republic of Korea with the official visit to establish and develop a partnership between expert agencies of both countries.
In the framework of the visit, the meeting with the Director of the National Forensic Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Security Doctor Joung Shik Choi was held. The delegation of the State Committee visited the laboratories of the National Forensic Service and got acquainted with the main activities of the department, as well as the used instrument base.
So, the Belarusian side got acquainted with the latest technical innovations, introduced in the activities of Korean forensic experts, in particular, mobile equipment that allows recognizing counterfeit banknotes, as well as software for working with video recordings, which improves their quality and makes it possible to identify previously unreadable details in images, such as car numbers.
In turn, foreign colleagues expressed a desire to get acquainted in details with the unique Belarusian model of forensic activity organization, the practice of forensic records conducting, as well as a clearly structured system for training future experts.
Korean experts were particularly interested in the Belarusian experience in countering drug trafficking, aimed at banning new uncontrolled substances before their appearance on the territory of Belarus.
It’s worth noting, that the National Forensic Service of South Korea is an authoritative organization in the world forensic society and has a lot of patents for inventions in the field of forensic activity, recognized by expert institutions in the USA and Europe.
Also the visit to the Seoul Integrated Control Centre and working meetings of the Belarusian delegation with the Vice Mayor of Seoul and the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Security of the Republic of Korea took place. At the same time, the participation of Belarusian experts in international training programs in Korea and technical support was discussed.
During negotiations with colleagues, the issues of signing the Agreement in the field of forensic activity were considered as part of the return visit of representatives of the National Forensic Service to the State Committee in 2019. During this visit, the Korean side intends to get acquainted with the domestic experience in conducting DNA and dactiloscopic records, as well as the practice of histological and odorological examinations.
The visit will serve as an impetus to the development of Belarusian-Korean relations in the field of forensic examination and will contribute to the development of mutual dialogue between expert agencies of Belarus and Korea, as well as further development of the capabilities of both domestic forensic examination and the exchange of best practices of Belarusian forensic experts with foreign colleagues.
