On October 25-26, 2018 Minsk hosts the International Science and Practice Conference «History and modernity of forensic education» dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the State Educational Institution «Institute of Further Training and Retraining of the Personnel of the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus» which brought together more than 200 representatives from 6 countries of the world.
The conference opened with an introductory speech by the Chairman of the State Committee Andrei Shved and the Rector of the Institute Irena Lapina.
Speaking with a welcoming speech the Head of the unified expert agency noted that the State Committee is currently implementing an approach to the annual introduction of several new types (subtypes) of forensic examinations, so that’s why the issues of training qualified personnel are becoming particularly relevant and require new approaches implemented by the Institute.
Issues related to such areas as the history and prospects of development of education in the field of forensic activity, the importance of forensic examination and criminology in modern law enforcement practice, promising areas for conducting various types of forensic examinations are discussed at the event. Topical issues of forensic medicine in the aspect of training of forensic experts are also considered.
The participants discuss the problems and prospects of professional development in law enforcement agencies, current trends in the training of experts in the field of forensic psychological, psychiatric and linguistic examinations.
The Agreement on cooperation between the State Educational Institution «Institute of Further Training and Retraining of the Personnel of the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus» and the National Center of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova was signed within the framework of the conference. The Agreement provides for the implementation of practice-oriented educational programs for further training and retraining of forensic experts, the organization of mutual internships of teaching staff, the exchange of information about achievements and possibilities in the field of forensic activity and other.
A similar Agreement on cooperation was also signed between the State Educational Institution «Institute of Further Training and Retraining of the Personnel of the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus» and the Scientific and Research Institute of Forensic Examination RSE «Center for Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan».
Representatives of international forensic organizations from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Latvia and other countries of the far and near abroad take part in the event.
It should be noted that more than 30 foreign listeners from Kazakhstan and Moldova have already been trained at the Institute. Currently an agreement on the training of foreign forensic experts from Abu-Dhabi, Azerbaijan, Serbia and other countries has been reached.
The Forum is also a good platform for the exchange of experience in training forensic experts in different countries, which allows giving a new impetus to this area of activity.
