Combating drug trafficking
The spread of drug addiction is a global threat to health of the population, the economy, law and security of the state.
The State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus within carrying out measures aimed at combating illicit trafficking in drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors in the Republic of Belarus.
One of the most important mechanisms for the implementation of such activities - the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus carrying out chemical examinations of drugs and psychotropic substances (hereinafter - the drug testing).
Identification research are carried out by experts at the analytical equipment - gas chromatography-mass spectrometer, allowing in the shortest possible time (an average of 40 minutes for one sample) to explore and identify the complete list of controlled drugs, psychotropic substances, precursors and analogs. Currently, this analytical equipment is in all the regions and Minsk, as well as the Central Office of the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
Experts work on this type of expertise is organized round the clock, including weekends. Due to the established order the immediate conduct of urgent examinations of drugs are ensured. The law enforcement bodies are immediately provided with the information that is necessary for initiation of a criminal case and for the adoption of other procedural decisions.
As one of the means to combat drug trafficking the State Forensic Examination Committee continuously monitors the drug situation in the Republic of Belarus, the countries of near and far abroad, during which monitored the facts revealing the illegal trafficking of new synthetic psychoactive substances, so-called "designer drugs" (synthetic substances which are structural modifications of already illicit drugs).
According to the results of monitoring the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus regularly makes proposals to supplement the Republican List of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Their Precursors under state control in the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter – the Republican List). Thus, in the period from 1 July 2013 to 1 July 2016 at the initiative of the State Committee in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health established the state control over the circulation of more than 100 new dangerous drugs and psychotropic substances.

Most substances were prohibited by the principle of "to advance" that is, before the first detection of the Republic of Belarus.
The State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus is carried out work on the generalization of the facts of death by drug poisoning.
In order to prevent drug abuse the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus in cooperation with regional mass media on a regular basis highlights the performances of officials of the State Committee on the negative consequences of (even single) drug abuse based on the results of psychological and psychiatric studies of persons using them.
Taking into account that the most vulnerable to traffickers young people, the territorial bodies of the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus in student newspapers and on the Internet pages of the social networks provides information of a preventive nature that allows attracting the attention of the recipient quickly.
In collaboration with the Investigative Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs is constantly working on the preparation of joint information materials to the media on seizures of illicit trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances, precursors and analogs.
