The delegation of the National Forensic Service of the Republic of Korea headed by the Director of this agency Dr. Joung Shik Choi visited the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
During the visit of Korean experts to the State Committee, the Director of the National Forensic Service Joung Shik Choi and the Chairman of the State Committee Andrei Shved signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The signing of this document will allow us to establish cooperation in such areas as training of experts, exchange of experience of expert practice, as well as the latest achievements in the field of forensic activity.
Kim Yong Ho, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Belarus, also took part in the official events during which the Memorandum of Understanding was signed.
Korea is one of the leading countries in the field of forensics and research in the field of computer technology, which is directly related to the rapid development of information and communication technologies in this country. During the meetings, Andrei Shved and Joung Shik Choi discussed issues of practical cooperation between the two agencies, as well as the organization of training of experts of the State Committee in the National Forensic Service of the Republic of Korea in such expert areas as research in digital technology, identification of objects from video images, automation of DNA analysis and others, which in the future will allow, among other things, to continue improving the work of the DNA base of the State Committee’s records, which already today helps to solve crimes of past years and the operational identification of persons, whose biological material is found at crime and accident scenes.
During the scheduled meetings, the Korean guests will attend the multifunctional forensic medical examination institution opened at the end of 2017; they will become familiar with the organization of work of the department of general expertise, biological evidence laboratory research department, which includes the department of forensic chemical examinations. Besides, the representatives of the National Forensic Service of the Republic of Korea will get acquainted with work of autotechnical examination department, technical examination of documents, drug and psychotropic substances examinations, their precursors and analogues, petroleum products examinations, forensic examination of materials, substances and items, ballistics examination laboratories (shooting gallery and ballistic records), explosion and fire and technical examination laboratories of the Central Office of the State Committee.
We remind you that earlier in October 2018 the delegation of the State Committee visited the National Forensic Service of the Republic of Korea where the Chairman of the State Committee Andrei Shved held working meetings with the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Security of the Republic of Korea and the Head of the National Forensic Service. As a result of the meetings was the achievement of preliminary agreements on further areas of cooperation, including the visit of Korean colleagues to the State Committee and the documenting cooperation.
