A delegation of the Carabinieri Anti-Counterfeiting Command of the Italian police visited the State Committee on May, 16. This is the first visit of Italian colleagues to the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

There are five varieties of police in Italy, one of which is the Carabinieri. Modern Carabinieri come from the Royal Carabinieri of the King of Sardinia, created in 1814. They served as national defenders, armed forces police, assisted other police officers. After the unification of Italy in 1861, the Carabinieri became the «First force» of the newly created military organization. Currently, the Carabinieri is a specific combination of the armed forces and the police. One of the specialized departments of the Carabinieri is currently the team of the Carabinieri Anti-Counterfeiting Command, whose representatives visited the State Committee.

During the meeting, the Italian guests got acquainted with the structure and activities of the State Committee, the history of its creation and formation. They visited laboratories of drug and psychotropic substances examinations, their precursors and analogues, petroleum products examinations, examinations of materials, substances and items, laboratories of ballistic examinations (shooting gallery and ballistics records). The Italian guests, as representatives of the Anti-Counterfeiting police department, were particularly interested in the experience of the laboratories for technical examination of documents and banknotes.

The Italian colleagues were shown the equipment used by experts to establish the authenticity/counterfeiting of banknotes and documents, including microscopes, IDs of hidden images, and video spectral Comparators. Among them are video-spectral «Regula 4305МН» and «Regula 4307» Comparators, a spectral luminescent microscope «Regula 5001МК.01» with an optical magnification of up to 96 times and a digital magnification of up to 260 times, a trinocular stereoscopic microscope «Regula 5003» with an optical magnification of up to 420 times, which allow you to process the received image on a computer using specialized software «Forensic Studio». A mobile (portable) device with an optical magnification of up to 20 times, which is designed for expert work in the field, was also presented.

At the end of the meeting, key areas of cooperation were discussed; both sides confirmed their intention to continue constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation between Belarus and Italy in the field of forensic activity.
