The interagency group of representatives of the State Forensic Examination Committee and the Investigative Committee took part in the Annual Conference of the European Association of Psychology and Law. The conference was attended not only by representatives of Europe, but also other continents (North and South America, Australia, Asia, Africa). The visit was organized by the mobility program for targeted interpersonal contacts MOST, funded by the European Union.
The reports presented at the conference touched such relevant topics of modern science as authenticity assessment and lie detection, inquiry and interrogation strategies, simulation of mental disorders, and memory of witnesses and eyewitnesses of crime.
The most theoretical interest was caused by detailed reports on the diagnosis of paraphilic disorders in the International Classification of Diseases 11 revision, changes in scientific approaches to lie detection.
For further study with practical purposes, studies of methods for analyzing the content of messages are of particular value (methodologies «Assessment of the validity of statements», «Reality monitoring»).
The obtained theoretical knowledge will be used for the development of forensic activity in the Republic of Belarus, in conducting forensic examinations and research, and in training state medical forensic experts-psychiatrists.
